Cold Spell Continues

Lloyd: Here, maybe you should have this extra pair of gloves…my hands are getting kinda sweaty!
Harry: You had…these gloves…all this time…and you never told me!?
Lloyd: Duh! Yeah! We’re in the Rockies!

Today – Partly Cloudy, Iso’d Shower – High 50 / Tonight – Partly Cloudy- Low 29

7am 35 ~ 10am 40 ~ 1pm 45 ~ 4pm 50 ~ 7pm 41

Weak shortwave disturbance will pass near the region this morning, which should produce the potential for a stray shower or two to develop. Although the better environment for isolated precip looks to remain to our north/east, I’ll keep a mention of it in the forecast. Otherwise, we’ll be partly cloudy.

We’ll also have the joy of feeling the bitterness of westerly breezes up to 10-15mph. This will contribute to another chilly day, friends, as highs are once again limited to the 50s. This is supported by the temperature model below, valid for 4pm this afternoon (notice the northwesterly winds):

Clouds will clear out to an extent overnight and into the early morning hours of our Friday, allowing temps to plummet into the upper 20s.  The NWS has issued a Freeze Warning for all of south central Kentucky from 1-9am Friday as a result.  Take care of those plants, plant people.

Fri – Partly Sunny – High 48 / Fri Night – Clear – Low 30

7am 30 ~ 10am 40 ~ 1pm 47 ~ 4pm 49 ~ 7pm 41

Partly to mostly sunny skies will be the story, as our pattern aloft becomes somewhat settled.  Temps will remain chilly, however, as we’ll still be stuck with northwest flow in the upper atmosphere.  Overnight lows will once again flirt below freezing.  Rinse & Repeat, plant lovers, you know the drill.

Sat – Partly Sunny – High 53 / Sat Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 37

7am 32 ~ 10am 43 ~ 1pm 52 ~ 4pm 53 ~ 7pm 42

imgg-3

Morning frost will make way to partly sunny skies, with temperature values being once again limited to the lower 50s. It looks to be a nice, cold day on the hill for homecoming. If you plan on tailgating, long pants and sleeves are recommended.

That’s it for now, gang. I’ll be back this afternoon with another fresh update on how our conditions are shaping up. Until then, enjoy your day, and keep the coffee hot! Thanks for reading.
