Wednesday Afternoon Update

This Afternoon – Partly Sunny – High 49 / Tonight – Partly Cloudy, Iso’d Shower – Low 35

4pm 49 ~ 7pm 45 ~ 10pm 42 ~ 1am 38 ~ 4am 36

Forecast is in pretty good shape up to this point. Expect a mix of sun and clouds to accompany chilly, northwest winds of 10-15mph this afternoon. As we get into tonight, winds will die down, however, a weak disturbance will warrant a mention of a stray shower or two through the early morning hours of tomorrow. This isn’t likely, however, it’s worth mentioning.

If skies catch a break from the clouds, we could experience some frost development. This has led the NWS to issue a Frost Advisroy through the early part of tomorrow morning for the entire region.

Thur – Iso’d Showers, Then Gradual Clearing – High 50 / Thur Night – Clear – Low 29

7am 35 ~ 10am 41 ~ 1pm 48 ~ 4pm 50 ~ 7pm 43

Skies will gradually clear as high pressure builds over the area.  Before that time, a shortwave punching through northwest flow aloft will keep isolated showers in the forecast.  This northwest flow is illustrated by the 500mb vorticity model provided:

Don’t let the rays of sun deceive you, as our cool temperatures are slated to stick around.  A hard freeze is expected Thursday night into Friday morning, as temperatures will seemingly fall out from the bottom, sliding into the upper 20s.  This should bring an end to the prospering of plant life for the season.  NO.  MORE.  MOWING.  HOORAY!

Fri – Sunny – High 50 / Fri Night – Clear – Low 28

Same story, different day, friends. Cool airmass will remain dominant across south central Kentucky, however, sunny skies are expected to accompany cool highs near 50 degrees. Another very cold night will be on the agenda, as temps once again plummet below freezing. Frost/freeze will be possible in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

The weekend continues to look quiet, calm, and nicer, as temps rebounding into the upper 50s. I won’t dive into it anymore at the moment. I’ll have a closer analysis of our weekend, including WKU’s homecoming, tomorrow.

That will be all for now, gang. I’ll be back tomorrow morning with another update on our conditions. Have a great remainder of your Wednesday, stay warm and cozy.
