Rainy and Gloomy Start to the Week

Good Sunday morning once again to everyone! I am happy to be joining you for another Sunday morning forecast! Unfortunately, we’ll need the rain gear as a rainy and gloomy start to the week is expected.

The Rain is BACK

After quite the stretch of fantastic weather days, the rain and clouds have made their triumphant return. You knew it would happen!

Unfortunately, we have a nice mid and upper level disturbance slowly moving east-southeast from the central plains. This is providing lift for clouds, showers/storms, and a surface low to our west.

The first wave of showers is currently aiming towards our region, and should be here around midday and early afternoon. After this, we should have a brief reprieve from the rain until decaying storms approach from the west tonight.

During that brief period of no rain, we may see a period of partly sunny skies that allow us to warm into the lower and mid 60s for highs today.

Monday will see a similar picture, with mostly cloudy skies dominating. Showers aren’t expected to be as widespread as they are today, so that is a plus! Still, the highest threat is Monday morning, so be sure to send the kids to school with a rain jacket/umbrella.

Highs Monday afternoon should hit the upper 50s before the cold front pushes through from the north and begins a cool off for a couple of days.

Tuesday Looks Chilly

The sunshine looks to settle back into the region on Tuesday as a high pressure system settles into the region! This will be a welcome sight as always, but it will come with chilly temps.

We’ll be heading to work on Tuesday morning with temps in the low 30s, and highs aren’t expected to get above the mid 50s on Tuesday afternoon! But, the sun always makes it a bit better.

Warm up is Coming

By Wednesday, the high pressure system will be quickly moving off to our east, shifting our surface flow from the north to the east and then to the south!

This will help to usher in a quick warm up. Lows Wednesday morning look to be in the upper 20s, but we quickly rebound into the mid 60s for highs by the afternoon.

After this, our next weather makers approach, but begin to set up large scale southwesterly flow. While this means copious cloud cover developing by Friday and Saturday (along with rain chances), we’ll be very warm.

Thursday-Saturday look to feature temps in the 70s, and with southwesterly flow, I wouldn’t be surprised to see us hit our first 80ºF temp next weekend. Keep an eye on it!

That is all I have, folks! Be sure to have a fantastic Sunday, and follow @wxornotBG on Facebook and Twitter for the latest on the forecast.
