Beautiful Saturday is in Store Before Major Changes

Gooooood Saturday morning, folks! It is nice to see the sun has returned! A beautiful Saturday is in store before major changes arrive on Sunday, and especially Monday.

Does it get any Better than this?

Today’s weather genuinely looks like some of the best we have seen all year. It is a bit chilly as you’re getting up (slowly) this morning, with temperatures in the low and mid 30s region-wide.

Temperatures will rise throughout the day underneath plenty of November sunshine. Expect few clouds and light winds, and highs rising into the lower 60s (61ºF-62ºF).

It is the perfect day to enjoy some cooking out or watching college football with some friends. Just enjoy it (because it will change dramatically soon)!

High clouds will approach the region later this afternoon in association with the next system slated for Sunday.

Dreary Sunday

A nice upper level disturbance will quickly move into the Great Lakes states on Sunday, dragging a cold front towards the region.

This front will result in widespread, light rainfall moving in during the afternoon hours. Ahead of this, expect gusty winds from the south, helping to keep us warm even with clouds and rain.

Highs tomorrow are expected to be in the mid 60s (64ºF-65ºF). I mean it’ll be a dreary day, but at least it won’t be too cold. Rain will move out on Sunday night, but light showers will still be possible.

Significant Severe Weather Possible Monday

Monday will be the day that we (meteorologists) will keep our eyes closest on. Monday night could feature a significant severe weather event across the region.

A strong jet stream is expected to move into the southern Plains by Monday morning. This will force a surface low to develop across southern Arkansas, and then rapidly strengthen as it moves into the Ohio Valley by late Monday night.

The strong low will bring a threat of severe weather to our region. h/t COD Weather

This will force the winds in the atmosphere to strengthen, both at the surface and above us. This will create plenty of wind shear, which helps to organize storms into severe storms.

Additionally, this low is expected to quickly draw northward dewpoints in the 60s (very unusual for this time of year), and these will all combine to create the threat for a major severe event across the region.

The SPC has placed most of our region in a Slight Risk for severe storms on Monday night.

The highest threats are for damaging winds and isolated tornadoes, and heavy rainfall. Highs on Monday will likely be around 68 or 69 degrees and will be hit near midnight of Tuesday.

During the day Monday, expect isolated light showers and cloud cover. Please stay weather aware over the coming days as this is shaping up to be an impactful event.
