Cooler Weather Leads Into an Active Pattern

Good morning folks! I hope everyone is doing well this Friday morning. A cold front pushed through yesterday with rainfall and gusty winds. Now, cooler weather leads into an active pattern, with several rain chances expected by early next week.

Classic KY November Day in Store

After a cloudy and rainy couple of days, Autumn and cool air is returning. I have loved the weather over the past few weeks, but today just looks classic (in my mind, at least).

We’ll be heading to work today with temperatures in the lower 40s, and pesky clouds hanging around the region. As yesterday’s system continues moving northeastward, we’ll see those continue to hang around.

As the day progresses, cloud cover is expected to continue hanging around the region. A weak system diving out of the upper plains will bring these clouds, and a chance at light showers. These two will combine to keep highs in the mid 50s (54ºF-55ºF).

Additionally, isolated light showers are possible through the afternoon. They won’t be widespread, but don’t be surprised to see some sprinkles accompany the afternoon cloud cover.

Beautiful Saturday in Store

Folks, I don’t think they make em much better than Saturday is gonna be. We’ll be in between major large scale systems, so we’ll see absolutely beautiful conditions.

Sunshine is expected to return to the region, and winds are looking to make a shift to the south and southeast, bringing some warmer conditions into the region.

Honestly: make outdoor plans, have folks over to enjoy a burger and a day of college football with you. I can tell you, the day looks amazing!

Highs are expected to be in the upper 50s and lower 60s (58ºF-60ºF). Don’t be surprised is some high clouds make their way into the region by the evening ahead of Sunday’s system, but overall, it’ll be a beautiful day.

The New Work Week Looks Wet

Sunday will feature a new system approaching the region for much of the day, with clouds increasing during the day. Winds will be breezy and from the south, so expect highs to jump into the mid 60s.

Rain will then get into the picture again. Ahead of a quick moving front (that may not even pass), showers will develop Sunday night and last into Monday.

Then, a stronger system is expected to develop by Monday night and Tuesday, bringing heavy rain and stronger winds to the region. Highs during these couple days are expected to be above average, in the mid and upper 60s ahead of the next cold front.

There is the potential for severe weather with this system, and the SPC has outlined our region in the risk for severe weather on Monday night. We have plenty of time to watch this system, but keep this in mind as we approach the next work week.
