Very dry conditions near the surface and in the low levels of the atmosphere should hold off any rainfall during the day today. This, combined with winds gusting up to 30 mph from the south, may present an elevated fire danger risk. Thus, be careful when burning brush. In fact, it’s better not to do it at all today.
Outside of that, today will be a fabulous weather day. Expect temperatures to climb into the upper 70s to perhaps even the low 80s. Models have been performing pretty terribly given the strong southerly flow. Actual temperatures were a few degrees above modeled temperatures overnight, thus adjusted the high temperature forecast up a few degrees. With strong southerly flow and abundant sunshine, I definitely think a few 80°+ readings are possible today.
In addition to the warm conditions and strong breeze, the atmosphere will be very dry this afternoon. Because of this, a Red Flag Warning is in effect until 7 pm this evening. Avoid burning brush this afternoon, and if you have to, keep it well under control.
Showers and thunderstorms may move into the region overnight. It may take a while for rain to actually reach the ground in Bowling Green due to dry air across the region. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some false radar returns during the onset of precipitation. No severe weather is expected at this time.
Tuesday – Showers and thunderstorms possible – High: 70° / Tues Night – Partly cloudy – Low: 51°
Showers and thunderstorms will be possible throughout the day on Tuesday as a frontal system stalls across the region. A cold front will make slow progression across the region, leading to widespread lift and thus widespread showers and thunderstorms. Once again, no severe weather is expected at this time.
Showers and thunderstorms should come to an end overnight as the front moves to the east of the region. Partly cloudy skies will develop as high pressure begins to settle into the region. Overnight lows will drop into the low 50s after highs around 70° earlier in the day.
Wednesday – Mostly sunny – High: 74° / Wed Night: Partly cloudy – Low: 51°
High pressure will continue to settle into the region on Wednesday. This will bring stable conditions to the region. Weak mid-level ridging will also develop, which will help keep conditions calm. Expect mostly sunny skies for Wednesday with highs creeping into the low to mid 70s.
A few clouds may develop overnight as an upper level disturbance begins to approach the region. However, no precipitation is expected. Lows will drop back down into the low 50s.
