Much Quieter Weather Week In Store

Discussion

Well, how nice did yesterday end up!? My goodness; we wake up to frost and freezing temps and warm well into the 60s during the afternoon hours. The official high temp was 68°F, which was a 33°F increase from the low of 35°F!

Expect temps to warm even further than that today and really tomorrow as well. A nice ridge is beginning to set up across our region, ahead of our next weather maker currently centered across the intermountain West.

This is associated with a developing surface low pressure system, and is moving to the east and northeast as we progress into the timeframe. This is going to head towards the Great Lakes, and should eventually push a cold front through our region. This low pressure center is tracking quite nicely to set up our surface winds to be from the southwest. You know what that means…

Southwesterly flow can often be described as a meteorological “flamethrower” because of how it warms temps. h/t giphy.com

Yep! Today, we’ll see south to south-southwesterly flow, but underneath sunshine, expect temps to rise up into the lower 80s across the region. It’ll be nice and toasty, but a great day to get some outdoor stuff taken care of this afternoon.

Check those nice temps that the HRRR is showing! Man, those are nice. h/t pivotalweather.com

A similar weather day will be noted tomorrow, but likely with more cloud cover across the region once we get into the afternoon hours. The surface low pressure system and cloud cover will be approaching us from the west, and associated with this will likely be high clouds from its precipitation.

Even so, southwesterly flow will be rockin’ and rollin’, with breezy winds in the 10-15 mph range. AKA expect temps around 80°F again. By Monday night, expect precip to be knocking on our door, but it could be weakening by that point as well. I do expect some light to moderate precip by Tuesday morning as the front approaches the region. This won’t be a washout by any means, but we could see some nice rainfall on Tuesday morning.

The NAM is showing the possibility of heavy rainfall on Tuesday morning. h/t pivotalweather.com

That should move out through by midday, but clouds look to stick around through the evening hours. Overnight, however, expect clouds to gradually clear and allow for temps to drop.
