Forecast Discussion

Bowling Green weather will enter a stormy pattern for the next several days due to a shortwave trough moving through the region, as well as disturbances embedded in a developing ridge. Basically: it gon’ rain.

The Hi-Res NAM is performing well this morning with isolated showers across the northern part of the region, as well as widespread rain along and north of the Ohio River. Thus, I’m beginning to trust its forecast for much of the day. It places isolated showers and storms throughout the region this afternoon. Isolated strong to severe storms can’t be ruled out. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the region in a “Marginal” risk of severe weather.

A shortwave trough will move into the region tomorrow. This will aid in lift needed or organized storms. A low-level jet will form by the evening hours, meaning thunderstorms may produce strong winds if the low level jet mixes down to the surface. The Storm Prediction Center has placed a “Slight” risk of severe weather for the region.

A break in the action is expected for most of the day on Tuesday. However isolated storms may form in the afternoon once again…shocker. I know you’re not amused and neither am I.
