The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch until 10 PM this evening for all of Southern KY.
The atmosphere across the region has destabilized fairly quickly this afternoon, as the warm frontal boundary moved northward. This is now positioned from just north of Elizabethtown into eastern Kentucky.
With plenty of wind shear present across the region, combined with the instability that has built across southern KY, the threat for severe thunderstorms is there. The main threats with these are damaging winds, heavy rainfall, lightning and isolated tornadoes. The SPC has us outlined in a slight risk for this afternoon.
We will be sure to keep you all updated as things progress this evening.
