Today 4/16 – Sunny – High 77º/Tonight – Clear – Low 48º
Good Morning, Bowling Green! High pressure will continue to dominate the area today keeping skies sunny and temperatures warm. The weather models have not been handling high temperatures very well, as most were suggesting highs in the low 70s for yesterday and we saw an observed high of 77º. Based on this, I am forecasting highs around the same temperature for today.
An omega blocking pattern is still affecting weather around the country. For the Midwest, winter storms are causing hazards in the north and severe storms are wreaking havoc in the south. We are stuck between two low pressure systems and are seeing a large upper-level ridge over much of the eastern U.S. as a result. This will keep the weather calm for Kentucky for the rest of the weekend.
Sunday 4/17 – Sunny – High 78º/ Sunday Night – Clear – Low 52º
This blocking pattern will continue into Sunday but the low pressure system in the Midwest will begin to close off throughout the day. High pressure will still be positioned over the area and we will be stuck in the same pattern as both low pressure systems on either side of the upper-level ridge refuse to budge. At least this means we will have beautiful weather even longer!
Highs will once again be in the upper 70s on Sunday and the warm, sunny weather will continue on into Monday.
Monday 4/18 – Sunny – High 80º/Monday Night – Partly cloudy – Low 58º
We may actually make it into the 80s on Monday as winds begin to shift more southerly. It looks like the omega pattern may begin to break down early next week which could mean saying goodbye to the nice weather. Enjoy it while it lasts!
