Winter Weather Advisory Issued

As if we haven’t heard it enough over the past few weeks, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for a large portion of south central Kentucky from 4AM – 10AM Friday morning. The counties included are displayed below:

Yet another clipper system will dive in from our northwest, bringing snow chances along with it. This will not be a major event. As a matter of fact, it looks to behave similarly to the recent rounds we’ve experienced. Total accumulations look to range anywhere from a light dusting up to 1″.

The main concern with this system is the time it’s expected to move in…right around/during the early morning commute. This obviously places implications on local schools, along with employers as well. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the evolution of this system as we progress throughout the night and into early tomorrow morning. As for right now, the HRRR simulated radar model brings it in right around 4-6AM, as shown below:

I’m not one to stir a panic, however, I’d recommend waking up a few minutes early tomorrow morning to see how things are unfolding in the weather world. As always, I’ll be updating frequently @WxOrNotBG. Shoot any questions you have to me there.
