Cold, Snowy Weekend Ahead

***Winter Weather Advisory issued until 10:00AM***

Real-time Bowling Green radar:

Today 2/12 – Cloudy; snow flurries – High 34/Tonight – Mostly cloudy – Low 13

Good Morning, Bowling Green! VERY cold weather is on the way this weekend with some snow chances today and Sunday. A clipper system is bringing some light snow flurries to the area this morning and accumulations of up to an inch are possible in some places. Morning commutes may become a problem if it is snowing in your area, so allow extra time to get to work/school.

Surface analysis valid 6am Friday (NOAA)

After this system passes, broad high pressure will settling in over the region for tonight and into Saturday. The polar jet stream is taking a dive into the southeastern states and is bringing a blast of cold air with it.

300mb winds and heights valid 3pm Friday (Pivotal Weather)

Lows will be in the teens tonight, so take care of pets and turn up the heat!

Saturday 2/13 – Sunny & COLD – High 21/ Saturday Night – Clear – Low 15

A very large high pressure system will be taking up most of the eastern and central U.S. on Saturday and high temperatures will barely make it over 20 degrees. Northerly winds will make it feel bitterly cold outside.

Surface temperatures valid 3pm Saturday (Pivotal Weather)

I would recommend staying inside, finding something good on Netflix, and just getting cozy for the day.

Sunday 2/14 – Cloudy – High 34/Sunday Night – Cloudy; snow showers – Low 30

Valentine’s Day will be a little warmer, but still a perfect day for cuddling as highs will only be in the mid-30s. If you don’t have anyone to cuddle with, I’m sure you can just surround yourself with lots of blankets and chocolate.

Winds will become more southerly Sunday bringing some warmer air our way, but we’re keeping an eye on a system moving in Sunday afternoon that could potentially bring decent snow accumulation to the area.

Surface analysis valid 6am Sunday (NOAA)

A southerly-tracking low pressure system looks to be a good set-up for some snow accumulations overnight Sunday. Totals are still uncertain at this point, but the latest model runs (NAM & GFS) are suggesting around 1-3 inches. Be sure to check back tomorrow for an update on this system!

Have a great weekend and continue to follow @WxOrNotBG for more updates!
