Rare View Underneath An Iceberg

On a recent National Geographic expedition to Antarctica, Alex Cornell captured a spectacular photo of the underside of an iceberg. During the journey on a Zodiac boat, Cornell and his family saw thousands of icebergs, but one in particular had recently turned on its side. Those on the Antarctica expedition in December were lucky enough to see the rare 90% of the iceberg that is normally under the surface. The photograph below, taken by Cornell, was featured on National Geographic’s website in their Travel 365 feature.

On the Antarctica Cruise and Tour with National Geographic, participants explore mountains, icebergs, and ice formations. One can experience Antarctica with a team of naturalists by kayak, Zodiac, and hiking in search of leopard seals, penguins, and marine life. Although a wee bit pricey, more information on the Journey to Antarctica can be found here.
