Thursday’s Bowling Green Weather Update

Real-Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

This Afternoon – Sunny; Chilly – High 40º / Tonight – Mostly Clear; Cold — Low 23º

3pm 40º – 6pm 32º – 9pm 28º – 12am 26º – 3am 24º – 6am 23º

After warming into the low-mid 50’s this time yesterday, we’re feeling the effects of another shot of cooler air today. Yesterday’s cold front swept through last night allowing winds to shift from our NW while bringing more cool weather. Despite temperatures struggling to reach the 40 degree mark this afternoon, high pressure will slowly work towards the region while bringing ample amounts of sunshine for our Thursday.

Looking ahead for this evening and tonight, mostly clear skies will prevail as temperatures drop off once again. With clear skies and calming winds, lows will bottom out in the low-mid 20’s for Bowling Green weather. Regardless, bundle up if out and about tonight!

Fri – Increasing Clouds; “Warmer” – High 44º / Fri Night – Mostly Cloudy; Few Showers (Late) – Low 35º

As we look to finally wrap up the work week, sunny and cold conditions kick off our day. However, surface high pressure will begin to weaken and push eastward allowing winds to shift from our east-southeast. This feature will allow temperatures to warm up a bit more by tomorrow afternoon. The tough part with this forecast will be the increasing cloud cover throughout the day.

With that said, I foresee a bulk of the cloud cover moving in by mid-afternoon or so. This should allow temperatures to warm into the low-mid 40’s for highs. By Friday night, we’ll see an increase in moisture across the area as a strong upper level disturbance gathers steam across Texas.

So…your saying some rain chances this weekend?!

And you shouldn’t! It’s Friday!!! Good advice Ron….

While a few showers remain possible late Friday night/early Saturday morning, models still show better rainfall chances arriving by Saturday night and into Sunday. Otherwise, look for mostly cloudy conditions with lows in the mid 30’s.

Sat – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Showers – High 57º / Sat Night – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Showers – Low 46º

By Saturday morning, high pressure will situate itself right along the mid-Atlantic region. Return flow will allow a strong southerly wind component to amp our moisture throughout the day. A low pressure system is expected to organize and strengthen across parts of Texas during this period. While a few scattered showers remain possible Saturday, more widespread rain showers will move northeastward into southern Kentucky Saturday night.

As the aforementioned system works northeastward along the Mississippi River through Saturday night, much warmer air will move with it. In return look for a mild (still chilly) night as lows only drop into the middle 40’s. Rain chances will ramp up by Sunday late morning/early afternoon with a few strong storms being possible. Nonetheless, the latter part of your weekend is shaping up to be a soggy one for the state. The latest 4-5 precipitation forecast suggest the same idea with up to an 1″ of rainfall being possible through early Tuesday morning.
