Not to be confused with Simon Cowell, Hurricane Simon is currently situated 400 miles west of Baja California. Simon is a weak Category 2 hurricane with a low pressure of 972mb and maximum sustained winds of 100mph.

The latest satellite imagery shows quite a bit of convection circulating around the center of the hurricane, although a clear eye has not developed.

Unfavorable wind shear is expected to weaken this hurricane over the next 24 hours and the latest track forecast from the NHC predicts Simon to make landfall on the Baja Peninsula as a tropical depression by Wednesday.
