A Nice Summer Day For Bowling Green

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

This Afternoon – Partly Sunny, Warmer – High 86º / Tonight – Partly Cloudy, Chilly – Low 62º

3pm 86º – 6pm 82º – 9pm 75º – 12am 68º – 3am 64º – 6am 62º

The stretch for below normal temperatures will continue for the last day of the month as the region remains under the influence of a stagnant upper level trough. Thus far, this feature has been solely responsible for the unseasonably cooler conditions. In return, we’ll add another below normal day to the forecast as highs this afternoon reach the mid 80’s under partly sunny skies.

The evening and overnight hours will be quite pleasant despite the stubborn cloud cover that sticks around. A weaker disturbance will continue its trek southeastward keeping the rain chances to our south and across the Gulf States. However, partly cloudy skies will stick around overnight with cool thermometer readings in the lower 60’s.

Fri – Partly Sunny; Iso’d Storms – High 86º / Fri Night – Partly Cloudy; Iso’d Storms – Low 64º

The surface high pressure will continue to weaken and work eastward allowing temperatures to climb a few more degrees Friday afternoon. A weak shortwave will work through the base of the stagnant trough as some upper level support will be evident. Much of the Commonwealth will remain rather moisture starved as dewpoint values struggle to reach the lower 60’s.

Despite the rather meager parameters for development, isolated showers and storms will be possible through tomorrow. Development will be hit and miss at best as activity remains widely scattered in nature. Storms that develop will offer brief heavy rainfall and gusty winds. Otherwise, look for showers and storms to diminish through Friday night with lows dropping into the mid 60’s.

Not bad…..

Sat – Partly Sunny; Warmer – High 87º / Sat Night – Partly Cloudy, Pleasant – Low 64º

As we kick of the weekend, a similar set up to Friday will be the case. The stagnant upper level low will hang around for the first part of the weekend as isolated showers and storms remain in the forecast. As mentioned previously, any activity that does develop will remain widely scattered in nature as main threats will be brief heavy rainfall and gusty winds. Outside of rain chances, look for a good mix of sun and clouds with highs in the mid 80’s.

The trough that parked itself across the eastern United States will finally break down and begin to lift towards the eastern coast. Ridging near the Mid-Atlantic will assure the exit of this feature as our Saturday night and Sunday will be calm. Overnight lows will be pleasant with temperatures readings dropping into the low-mid 60’s under partly cloudy conditions.
