aerosmithIt’s the same old song and dance..

As far as today goes, Aerosmith could not have sang it better. We will see weather nearly identical to the past few days with highs in the middle 80s and abundant sunshine. We are seeing some gusty winds out of the south today with gusts as high as 25 mph. These winds will die down by tonight as lows drop into the upper 50s.

Thu – Sunny – High 87˚ / Thu Night – Increasing Clouds – Low 65˚

Another day of the same for us on Thursday with cotinued warm temperatures. If you are getting bored of seeing the same weather, good news is we will start seeing changes Thursday night. A cold front to our west will impact us on Friday and we will start to see some clouds move in ahead of the front by tomorrow night.

Fri – Showers & Storms Likely – High 86˚  / Fri Night – Showers & Storms Likely – Low 60˚

The cold front will have trouble making much more eastward progress on Friday and as a result we will see a few rounds of showers and storms. At this time, it doesn’t look like we will have to deal with any severe weather but this system will be a pretty potent rain maker.

Check out this chart from the latest run of the GFS model showing high precipitable water values for Friday afternoon:

Precipitable water values are a good indicator of how much moisture is available in the atmosphere for any storms to work with. This map shows a stripe of very moist air across the southeast. This means the showers and storms we see this weekend have the potential to produce heavy rain.

The rain looks to stick around through Saturday and by the time it is all said and done we are still looking at rainfall totals around 1-2″. With that being said, take advantage of the beautiful weather today and tomorrow because the first half of the weekend is looking  like a washout.
