Another Dreary Day

Today 4/8 – Scat’d Showers & Storms – High 63˚ / Tue Night – Iso’d Showers Early – Low 37˚

6am 40˚ ~ 9am 48˚ ~ 12pm 59˚ ~ 3pm 63˚ ~ 6pm 58˚ ~ 9pm 49˚

We’ll start off the day under partly cloud skies, however, a weak disturbance will track east across the area this afternoon, bringing with it another round of scattered showers and storms.  The NAM simulated radar below loops 3 hours from 7am this morning through 7pm this evening:

NAM Simulated Radar Valid 7am - 7pm

Severe weather looks unlikely, but with that being said, the freezing level will be very low in the atmosphere, thus allowing hail formation to become more likely.  Small hail will be possible with any storms that develop.

Otherwise, these showers & storms will act more like an annoying younger sibling, bringing less than a quarter inch of rain.  The kind of annoying younger sibling that needs an attitude adjustment.

Rain chances will diminish as we get into tonight, with temps plummeting into the lower 30s.

Wed – Sunny & Nice – High 63˚ / Wed Night – Clear – Low 42˚

Our conditions will greatly improve on Wednesday, thanks to an upper level ridge taking over the area. Winds are forecast to shift out of the southwest by Wednesday afternoon, allowing for warmer temperatures to advect into the area.  Plentiful amounts of sunshine will combine with these winds to take temp readings into the low – mid 60s.  Overnight, skies will remain clear, as our weather pattern stays quiet.

Thu – Sunny & Breezy – High 75˚ / Thu Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 51˚

High pressure will slowly shift to our east, as a cold front approaches from our northwest.  This will amp up southerly winds to 15-25mph, which will coincide with rays of sun to take highs into the mid 70s.  The model below, valid for 1pm Thursday afternoon, should help illustrate:

Pressure valid 1pm Thu

If you’re an outdoorsman, Thursday is your kind of day.  On Thursday night, a few clouds will work in ahead of the cold front, before scattered showers and storms return to the forecast on Friday.
