AM Showers & Storms

The rain... make it stop.
The rain… make it stop.

Today 4/4 – Scat’d AM Showers & Storms, BREEZY – High 65˚ / Tonight – Clear – Low 35˚

6am 60˚ ~ 9am 63˚ ~ 12pm 65˚ ~ 3pm 65˚ ~ 6pm 61˚ ~ 9pm 50˚

**Wind Advisory for the entire area from 11am – 7pm today**

We lucked out earlier this morning, as a stout line of storms lost steam as it progressed into our area.  With that being said, scattered showers & storms will hang around through the early part of today, with gradual clearing expected through the afternoon.  As of 5:15am, our severe weather threat has all but diminished.

Additional rainfall amounts of .5-1+” will be possible, which could lead to minor flooding concerns.  Keep up with the activity with the radar below:

Temperatures won’t budge much today, with readings currently located in the low – mid 60s expected to stay there as we get into the afternoon.

The real story today, aside from this morning’s rain, will be potent, westerly winds of 20-30+mph.  This will be thanks to a tightening pressure gradient along/behind the cold front, that will advance east across our proximity.

So, that umbrella and wind-breaker of yours… take them with you today.

Sat – Sunny & Mild – High 58˚ / Sat Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 37˚

The start to the weekend will be much more quiet, as high pressure to our north takes control of our weather here in south central Kentucky.  Light & variable winds out of the north will limit highs to the upper 50s, which will combine with rays of sunshine to give us a nice, mild conditions to enjoy.  If you plan on being out early on Saturday, dress warm!

Sun – Partly Sunny, Iso’d PM Showers – High 65˚ / Sun Night – Showers Likely – Low 50˚

The start of our Sunday will be pleasant, with increasing clouds and isolated showers arriving by the afternoon.  This will be in response to our next weather maker that will be approaching from the southwest.

By Sunday night, a surface low will cut a path northeast toward the Appalachians, resulting in widespread rain showers for the entire region.  Our best chance at seeing the wet stuff won’t arrive until the predawn hours of our Monday.

Thunderstorms will be possible, however, given the large shield of rain that’s expected, instability should be hampered, thus canceling out any chance of severe weather.  The GFS precip model below depicts a very damp picture for us by 7am Monday morning:
