Sunshine Today

Today 2/16 – Mostly Sunny – High 44˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 27˚

9am 37˚ ~ 12pm 42˚ ~ 3pm 43˚ ~ 6pm 36˚ ~ 9pm 30˚

Two words: high pressure. No disturbances, no flurries, no rain (finally!). Should be a nice sunny day with temperatures warming into low to mid 40s. So still a chill in the air for one last day before the warm up begins. Clouds will be on the increase overnight ahead of the next system which will move in tomorrow.

Mon – Rain Showers Likely, Breezy – High 55˚ / Mon Night – Mostly Clear – Low 29˚

Let the warm up begin. Woop woop!! Warm southerly winds at 10-20 mph will allow us to warm up nicely into the mid 50s tomorrow. And… for once, the warmth lasts more than a day as we are expecting nice temperatures throughout the week.

Tomorrow will also feature our next weather maker as it slides across the Ohio Valley. The atmospheric lift provided by the disturbance and associated cold front in combination with moist air streaming up from the Gulf will make for a rainy Monday.

The GFS model paints a wet picture for tomorrow afternoon. This image is 6 hour precipitation ending at 6pm Monday.

It probably will not be rainy when you head out tomorrow but rain should be entering south-central KY around lunch-time. Rainfall isn’t expected to be overly heavy but a steady rainfall through the afternoon could leave us with, in general, around a quarter of an inch of rain (0.15″ – 0.40″).

Rain moves out during the early evening leaving clear and cool conditions overnight.

Tues – Awesomeness, Sunny – High 59˚ / Tues Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 35˚

Tuesday’s weather looks fantastic, especially compared to what we’ve had to deal with over the last few weeks to a month. It will be sunny and warm… we may even make a run at 60.

A system will be passing well off to our north across the Great Lakes states will create a nice stream of warm southerly winds. When you get home after school or work, plan to enjoy an afternoon outside.

More warmth is expected later into next week as 50s and 60s continue. As is the case anytime we get warm temperatures during the winter months, we have to keep a close eye for potential severe weather.

The Storm Prediction Center has outlined much of our area for the heightened potential of strong to severe storms on Thursday.

While we are still way to far out to mention specifics (as you know, things are ever changing in the weather world), there is a system worth watching on Thursday. The Storm Prediction Center has outlined much of our area as one to watch for some strong to severe storms Thursday. No need to fret at this point, but something worth being aware of.
