Light Snow Possible Tonight

SNOMG: “SNOW MY GOSH”

Today – Partly Sunny – High 64 / Tonight – Scat’d Rain/Snow Showers – Low 33

7am 33 ~ 10am 47 ~ 1pm 60 ~ 4pm 58 ~ 7pm 47

High pressure will keep conditions nice and calm today, with a mix of sun and clouds expected. As we get into this afternoon & evening, an Arctic cold front will approach from our north, bringing with it a FRIGID airmass, along with the chance for light snowfall.

I expect both air and ground temperatures to remain above freezing for the most part, so if any frozen precip does fall, it shouldn’t stick for long.  I think we could see a sporadic dusting up to 1/2″ out of this system at best.  There is NO need to go hijacking milk & bread trucks.  I don’t believe this will cause any major concerns regarding travel.  WE.  WILL.  SURVIVE.

Below is the latest 4km NAM temperature model, valid for 6am Tuesday morning.  As you can see, a few locations show readings at freezing.  If they do slide that low, they won’t be there for long:

Tues – Scat’d AM Rain/Snow Showers – High 40 / Tues Night – Clear – Low 21

7am 35 ~ 10am 37 ~ 1pm 40 ~ 4pm 37 ~ 7pm 31

We’ll keep light rain/snow flurries around through midday, with clearing skies expected as we get into the evening and overnight. It will not be a fun day weather wise, as we’ll also have brisk, northerly winds of up to 20-30mph to deal with.

Be sure to lay out the winter clothes, folks. Temps look to be limited close to 40 degrees, with the coldest temps of the season arriving Tuesday night. Again…tomorrow does not look fun.

Wed – Sunny – High 48 / Wed Night – Clear – Low 22

Bitter cold will be the term used to best describe Wednesday morning.  For those of you with heated seats in your car, let me be the first to say CONGRATS!  Arctic high will be in complete control, suppressing highs to the upper 40s.

That will be all for now, gang.  I’ll be back this afternoon with an update on our snow potential for tonight and tomorrow.  Don’t forget to stay connected with me via Facebook and Twitter for more frequent information.  Have a great day, and soak in the seasonable weather…BIG changes arrive tonight.  Thanks for reading.
