Monday Afternoon Update

This Afternoon – Partly Sunny – High 65 / Tonight – Scat’d Rain/Snow Showers – Low 34

4pm 60 ~ 7pm 50 ~ 10pm 48 ~ 1am 40 ~ 4am 36

High pressure has slid to our southeast, with increasing clouds expected through the afternoon and evening. We may even see a stray shower or two. An Arctic cold front will approach and pass to our south tonight, bringing with it a FRIGID airmass, along with the chance for light rain/snow. The model below displays frontal positions as of 1:30pm, along with the temperature gradient. How ’bout that bitter cold air surging in behind the front? BRRRRRR:

After analyzing the latest data, I still believe both air & ground temps will remain above freezing, so if any frozen precip falls, it won’t stick for long.  As far as accumulations are concerned, I’m still thinking very light amounts for a few lucky folks around here (dusting), with the majority of us not getting much of anything at all.  Those located in eastern Kentucky could see amounts reach up to 1-2″.

As mentioned this morning…there is NO need to go hijacking milk & bread trucks.  This system should NOT produce any major concerns regarding travel.  With that being said, early commuters need keep in mind that a slick spot or two will be possible early tomorrow morning.

Tues – Light AM Rain/Snow, BREEZY – High 40 / Tues Night – Clear – Low 21

7am 35 ~ 10am 37 ~ 1pm 40 ~ 4pm 37 ~ 7pm 31

We’ll keep light rain/snow flurries around through midday, with clearing skies expected as we get into the evening and overnight.  It will not be a fun day weather wise, as we’ll also have brisk, northerly winds of 20-30mph to add to the mess.

Be sure to lay out the winter clothes, folks.  Temps look to be limited close to 40 degrees, with the coldest temps of the season arriving Tuesday night.  Again…tomorrow does not look fun.

Wed – Sunny – High 48 / Wed Night – Clear – Low 22

BITTER COLD continues to be the words of choice to describe Wednesday morning.  All those with heated seats in your car, a hat tip is in order.  Arctic high will be in complete control, suppressing highs to the upper 40s.

That will be it for the time being, folks.  I’ll be back early tomorrow morning with an update on our snowfall.  Don’t forget to stay connected with me via Facebook and Twitter for more frequent information.  Have a great rest of your Monday, and enjoy the seasonable temperatures while you can.  Again…BIG changes arrive tonight!  Thanks for reading.
