Sunny & Breezy

I call this move, “The Monday.”

Today – Partly Cloudy & Breezy – High 65 / Mon Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 44

7am 42 ~ 10am 51 ~ 1pm 64 ~ 4pm 61 ~ 7pm 53

We should pick up right where we left off from yesterday, folks. Partly to mostly cloudy skies are expected to accompany a brisk, southerly breeze today. We’ll see high temps rebound into the mid 60s, as winds crank up to 10-20mph. This will be in response to a pressure gradient that will tighten up over the area.

Clouds are expected to increase slightly tonight, as our next weather maker begins to take shape across the Plains. The following image takes a look at surface pressure at 12pm this afternoon. As displayed, thin, black lines (which represent difference of pressure) are closely align over the Ohio Valley/Great Lakes. This indicates the tight pressure gradient that will be responsible for our moderate winds:

Tues – Increasing Clouds – High 65 / Tues Night – Mostly Cloudy – Low 51

7am 52 ~ 10am 60 ~ 1pm63 ~ 4pm 61 ~ 7pm 56

A low pressure system will begin to evolve out west, and being a track northeastward to the Great Lakes.  An associated cold front will approach from our west as a result, which will increase cloud cover across south central Kentucky through the overnight.  Other than that, it should be a nice, seasonable, fall day.

Wed – Scat’d Showers & Storms – High 70 / Wed Night – Showers & Storms Likely – Low 47

Our next chance at rain will arrive on Hump Day, as the cold front begins its track west to east across the viewing area.  Strong winds are expected, as well as heavy rainfall, thanks to precipitable water values jolting well above normal.

This system does NOT look to have the same ingredients available as the Halloween mess, so for now, severe weather looks to be out of the equation.  Rain chances will increase throughout our Wednesday, with the heaviest precip falling Wednesday night.  The NAM thickness model below is valid for 9pm Wednesday night, and supports this:

That’s all for now, friends.  I’ll be back tomorrow morning with a fresh analysis of the latest data.  Until then, enjoy the end to your weekend.  Thanks for reading!
