Sunday Update

Today – Mostly Sunny – High 55 / Tonight – Clear – Low 34

7am 41 ~ 10am 47 ~ 1pm 54 ~ 4pm 51 ~ 7pm 47

High pressure is currently building in from our west, which should provide partly to mostly sunny skies across south central Kentucky today. Temperatures will continue to be limited to the mid 50s, as light easterly flow remain in place across our proximity. Here is a look at our current surface conditions:

Mon – Partly Sunny & Breezy – High 66 / Mon Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 44

7am 40 ~ 10am 51 ~ 1pm 64 ~ 4pm 63 ~ 7pm 53

Start of the work week should remain quiet, for the most part. We’ll see high temperatures rebound into the mid 60s, thanks to southerly winds of 15-20mph. This will be in response to a tightening pressure gradient over the area.

Clouds will slowly increase Monday night, as our next weather maker begins to take shape across the Plains. The image provided takes a look at surface pressure at 3pm tomorrow. As you can see, the thin, black lines aligning over the Ohio Valley/Great Lakes indicate a tight pressure gradient, which will result in our strong winds:

Tues – Increasing Clouds – High 65 / Tues Night – Mostly Cloudy – Low 51

A low pressure system will organize to our west, and track northeast toward the Great Lakes.  An associated cold front will be approaching from our west as a result, which will send cloud cover on the increase.  Other than that, it should be a seasonable day.

We’ll see our next opportunity at rain arrive on Hump Day, as the cold front begins its track west to east across the viewing area.  Strong winds are expected, as well as heavy rainfall, as precipitable water values juice up above normal.

This system does look to have the same ingredients we experienced on Halloween, so for now, severe weather looks to be out of the equation.  Rain chances look to increase throughout our Wednesday, with the heaviest precip falling Wednesday night.

That’s all for now, friends.  I’ll be back tomorrow morning with a fresh analysis of the latest data.  Until then, enjoy the end to your weekend.  Thanks for reading!
