Saturday Update

The forecast looks to be on track for the most part, friends.  Partly to mostly sunny skies will reside across south central Kentucky today, as high temperatures top out in the lower – mid 80s this afternoon.  Overnight, the upper ridge that has been responsible for our beautiful conditions the past few days will finally begin to break down, as an upper level disturbance moves into the Great Lakes.

In response to this, a surface low pressure system will swing its associated cold front west to east across south central Kentucky on Sunday.  The surface model above illustrates the front’s current location, with showers and storms advancing ahead of it.  Available moisture will coincide with this boundary over our area as well, allowing for potential scattered shower and thunderstorm development.
I’m not overly impressed by the setup, but will keep a mention of a rumble of thunder or two in the forecast.  Cloud cover looks to give us a dreary, cool day tomorrow, limiting highs to the lower 70s.  Precipitation will be possible all day, and linger into the night and Monday, before our area completely dries out by Monday afternoon.  Showers should remain light to moderate through this time, with values up to .50″ not out of the question.
That will do it for now, gang.  I’ll be back tomorrow with another update on our weather conditions.  Have a great day, and thanks for reading.
