Thursday Afternoon Update

Thursday Afternoon – Partly Sunny, Isolated Storms. High 84
There really isn’t too much going on, friends.  Partly to mostly sunny skies should remain in control through late this evening, with a stray shower/storm not being ruled out.  Overnight, we’ll see conditions remain quiet and clam under partly cloudy skies. 4pm 84 | 9pm 71 | 1am  67

Friday – Partly Sunny, Showers/Storms Likely – High 83
Partly sunny skies will join us early in the morning, however, conditions are forecast to drastically change.  Large-scale trough will dig into the Midwest/Great Lakes, sending an associated cold front toward south central Kentucky from our northwest.  This boundary will clash with a damp airmass over our area. firing off scattered showers and storms during the afternoon.  The simulated radar model below is valid for 4pm.  If this verifies, we’ll be looking at a very wet scenario.

As we get later into the evening and overnight, I’m expecting to see more widespread development.  The parameters in place do not look to produce any significant severe weather event, however, a cell or two could meet criteria.  Main threats with any convection will be strong winds, torrential rain and frequent lightning.  The latest rainfall forecast still calls for 1-2″ before this system gets out of our hair.  The timing of the event will place all area high school football games in question.  6am 65 | 12pm 82 | 4pm 83

Saturday – AM Showers/Storms, Gradual PM Clearing – High 76

Leftover showers & storms should gradually make way to partly sunny skies by late in the afternoon.  All you tailgate warriors should prepare for rain, especially through the morning.  If we can get the cold front far enough east in time, conditions will be glorious, with a mix of sun and clouds to go with highs in the mid – upper 70s.  For our Sunday, plentiful amounts of sun will be joined by highs in the lower 70s.  Yes, you read that correctly!

That will wrap up the afternoon forecast, gang.  I’ll be back tomorrow morning with a fresh update on our weather forecast.  Enjoy the remainder of your Thursday, and thanks for reading ~ Beech Tree Weather!
