Today: Really warm and muggy. Mostly sunny. High of 86ºF. Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low of 66ºF.
You think the past few days have been warm and muggy? You just wait.
A ridge of high pressure will begin to take a major role on our weather this weekend, and will bring very warm temps with it.
As it moves eastward, we will see moisture values increasing across the region as well. It isn’t very fun when you get dewpoints in the 60s, and we will see them approaching 70ºF this afternoon.
I mean, if you have issues with your hair and the humidity, you may wanna take a rain check on going outside.
Temps look like they’re gonna warm up into the mid and upper 80s this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. This, combined with the high dewpoints, will make the afternoon unbearable. If you are outdoors, take extra precautions in terms of keeping yourself cool and hydrated.
As we head into the overnight hours, skies should remain mostly clear, with lows falling into the mid 60s. It will remain miserably muggy outside as well.
Sunday: Hot, muggy, awful, etc. High of 92ºF. Sun. night: Mid and high level clouds increasing. Low of 70ºF.
It only gets worse from Saturday. How, you may ask? Well, it gets hotter. Waaaaay hotter. Temps are like, “Waaaaaay up, I feel blessed”.
Dewpoints again are gonna be right up around 70ºF, making things very uncomfortable outside. Winds will also shift to the southwest, and will likely get pretty breezy. This is maybe one positive.
However, with southwesterly winds comes warm air advection, so expect high temps. I wouldn’t be surprised to see temps approach the mid 90s if high clouds don’t get too widespread.
I will say, the one thing that could throw off my predictions either day is isolated thunderstorms. In patterns like this, you’ll typically see some isolated storms pop up during the heat of the day, which is something to watch.
Otherwise, I see highs ending up in the low 90s, with partly cloudy skies. Overnight, skies will see increasing clouds, with lows only dropping to 70. Be sure to keep the AC on and not walk outside, because you may end up like this…
Monday: Showers and storms. High of 90ºF. Mon. night: Skies clearing, with a low of 68ºF.
On Monday, there will finally be a trough moving to our north, dragging a cold front through the area. This will finally bring at least a little bit of relief to the area in the form of showers and storms.
Look for the storms to fire up in the peak hours of the afternoon and evening, and I wouldn’t rule out a few strong storms. With instability values looking high, it seem possible.
We could see some small hail, strong winds and very heavy rain, in addition to the lightning threat. This will all occur after another miserable day of temps, with highs topping out in the lower 90s, and dewpoints ending up around 70.
Overnight, things don’t look to improve that much, with lows dropping into the upper 60s and lower 70s. Conditions will remain muggy under clearing skies.
If you do need a reminder of why you need not complain about the heat, check out what the weather was like just three months ago!
Be sure to be safe if you have any outdoor activities planned the next few days. Make sure to wear sunscreen (I learned the hard way), stay hydrated and try to hit the shade as often as possible. I know, I know. I sound like a Dad.
