Monday’s Bowling Green Weather Update

Real-Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

This Afternoon – Mostly Sunny; Very Nice – High 68º / Tonight – Mostly Clear; Cool — Low 48º

3pm 68º – 6pm 58º – 9pm 55º – 12am 52º – 3am 51º – 6am 48º

Plenty of sunshine and blue skies have prevailed for the start our work week as southerly winds have increased up to 10-15 mph. These breezy conditions will persist for the remainder of our afternoon allowing temperatures to warm into the upper 60’s for highs. Not bad at all if you ask me!

Nonetheless, conditions remain on the quiet side through tonight as mostly clear skies win out. Temperatures, while cool, will be much milder than the past few nights. Lows will eventually bottom out in the upper 40’s with light southerly winds around 5 mph.

Tue – Increasing Clouds; Sct’d Showers – High 64º / Tue Night – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Showers – Low 35º

There is good model agreement on a low pressure system and its associated cold front swinging through by late Tuesday morning/early afternoon. Showers will accompany this feature as it treks across the Commonwealth before clearing southern Kentucky by late Tuesday night. Showers will decrease in coverage from west to east as much colder air filters into the region.

While afternoon highs will have no problem reaching the low-mid 60’s (even with cloud cover Tuesday afternoon), evening and overnight temperatures will eventually fall into the mid 30’s. The latest precipitation forecast indicates light rainfall amounts with this system with a widespread tenth of an inch being possible.  In other words, not a big time soaking event. However, the cold air behind it, well…that’s another story.

Wed – Mostly Sunny; Unseasonably Cold – High 47º / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy; Cold – Low 29º

The aforementioned system will clear the state allowing a strong surface high pressure to build into the Northern Plains. In return, plenty of sunshine can be expected for our Wednesday as unseasonably cold temperatures settle in. Highs will struggle to reach the upper 40’s as northerly winds keep the chilly conditions at bay.

We’ll keep our eye on a weaker shortwave that will move across the Region by late Wednesday night/Thursday morning. The only impacts we’ll see from this will be the increased cloud cover through the overnight period. Otherwise, look for partly cloudy skies and cold temperatures dipping into the upper 30’s.
