Tornado Track Tool

Last Fall we had a WeatherBuzz post showing the new Tornado Tracks Tool from the Midwestern Regional Climate Center. So as we enter severe weather season, I thought it would be interesting to show some tornado climatology for the area since 1950.

Since 1950, Warren County has seen 11 tornadoes EF1 or stronger, and 3 EF3 tornadoes. However, there has not been an EF4 or EF 5 tornado hit the county in the past 64 years.

Zoom out a bit and it really gets messy. That’s quite a bit of tornadoes! But keep in mind this is over a 60 year period.

Visit the tornado track tool by clicking on the link at the beginning of this WeatherBuzz. You can specify years, zoom in and out, as well as click on specific tracks and get information such as fatalities, injuries, and path length. This tool really is awesome!
