Happy Saturday, South-Central Kentucky, and welcome to the weekend! Another seasonably warm weekend is in store around here, along with the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms each day.

A Saharan Saturday…

No, it will not be scorching like the Saharan Desert today, but a dust plume from across the Atlantic will be present in the skies overhead Saturday, making for some truly awesome sunrises and sunsets in spots! This will of course be dependent on whether or not its raining in your neighborhood during these times, but keep the camera handy, just in case!

Here’s a great explanation of the Saharan Air Layer from our very own Kayla Krohman, as well as an embedded sunrise picture courtesy of The Edmonson Voice!

In terms of weather, temperatures will rise from the low 70s early on, to reach a high in the middle 80s later in the day. Dew point values will be oppressively high (in the 70s), making for some excessively humid conditions across WABBLES, with scattered afternoon showers and storms possible. This is due in part to a boundary approaching from the northwest during the day on Saturday.

A Showery Sunday

Showers appear likely on Sunday as the boundary mentioned above remains draped across the area during the daytime hours. While Sunday may not be a complete washout, expect at least some rainfall, with mostly cloudy skies and highs that top out in the middle 80s. Keep an umbrella handy if you have any plans!
