Active Couple of Days is Ahead

Good Friday morning, folks! I am quite happy that today is Friday, and am more than ready for this weekend. Unfortunately for this weekend’s plans, an active couple of days is ahead of us.

Things Clear up This Afternoon

Well, as you’re waking up and heading out to work this morning, showers and storms are expected to be ongoing.

This is in association with a mid-level disturbance, and also a piece of low-level energy from a leftover convective system far to our west Thursday morning. This has produced severe thunderstorms over Arkansas, but isn’t expected to bring that here.

Heavy rain is the primary threat with this activity. In fact, the National Weather Service in Louisville has us under a Flash Flood Watch through 11 am.

Be prepared to send the kids to school with a rain jacket, and take an umbrella to work with you too!

As the day progresses, this will move on east and we’ll lose the forcing for any widespread thunderstorms. Expect partly cloudy skies and isolated showers and storms, with highs in the mid and upper 70s during the afternoon.

More Rain/Storms Expected Saturday

Another piece of upper level energy is expected to move into the region by Saturday morning. This will accompany a surface low and weak front, and help set the stage for some more storms.

There is some model discrepancy on where the surface low will be, but at this time it looks to pass through middle TN on Saturday. This would imply a lower storm chance, but a higher chance of more widespread rain showers.

The models have been a bit inconsistent with the pattern as of late. Just know that rain is expected on Saturday morning and afternoon, and storms are a possibility.

Clouds will be present as well, holding lows into the mid 70s. Just looking like a bleh day right now. We’ll continue to watch, but the higher storm chances look to be in TN.

I don’t foresee this being a total washout right now, but do expect rain. The rain/storm chances will decrease as the night goes on and the greater forcing moves eastward.

Sunday Looks Awesome!

Ahhh, yes! Sunshine looks to return by Sunday, and I am excited.

It’ll be a really nice way to cap off the weekend. Expect some partly cloudy skies in the afternoon, but overall a fantastic day is in store for Sunday!

Monday and Tuesday are also looking like solid days across the lower Ohio Valley, with rain returning to the forecast by Tuesday night and Wednesday.
