Dreary Conditions Continue, More Rain Incoming

Good afternoon, folks. Thanks for stopping by to check out our Friday afternoon forecast update. The forecast from the morning post looks to remain on track, as dreary conditions continue, with more rain incoming.

Here’s a current look (as of 1:50 pm) of the radar:

Temperatures have continued to drop a bit from this morning, as we are currently at 47F. These temperatures are quite a change from what we’ve had for a while. The map below shows the temperature change over the past 24 hours from the Kentucky Mesonet, where we have dropped over 20F across our region.

Winds and wind gusts have also been as expected. The peak wind gust for Warren County so far today was 26 mph. Strong northwest winds will continue as we are on the backside (west side) of the Low/cold front.

What’s To Come

A few models have been in some disagreement over the precipitation expected for tonight. The latest runs of the NAM model (below) have been hinting at wintry precipitation falling after midnight tonight.

The latest HRRR model (below) on the other hand is keeping all precipitation as liquid.

Temperatures are expected to drop to the upper 30s to low 40s tonight, so I would expect all rain tonight. If our temperatures do drop to around 32F, then some mixed precipitation can be expected, but no accumulation or impacts will be present due to the warmer roadway/ground temperature and the amount of rain present with the system.

While drizzle/light rain has been present so far today, some heavier precipitation is expected tonight. Models are hinting at an additional 0.75-1 inch of rain still to come tonight.
