Good morning, friends, and Happy Hump Day! These past few days sure have been delightful. Unfortunately our next weather system will be approaching, so expect increasing clouds this afternoon, and hit or miss showers to return this evening. Check out the details below.
Sunny This Morning, Increasing Clouds This Afternoon
Skies will remain clear for the morning hours, but clouds will be increasing this afternoon as our next round of isolated rain chances return tonight. The Low pressure to our north will keep winds out of the south, which in return will help drive our high temperature into the mid to upper 60s, maybe even close to 70 for a few folks in our area.
An approaching cold front will bring isolated rain showers to our area this evening, which look to be entering our area around the 6-9 PM timeframe, and continuing throughout the night.
Light and isolated hit or miss rain showers will continue during the overnight hours. Temperatures tonight will drop into the low 40s. Rainfall amounts will remain minimal as the cold front passes through, shifting winds to be out of the north. The north winds will limit the high temperatures for tomorrow.
Cooler Thursday
Unfortunately, rain chances will stick around tonight and into tomorrow. The cold front will keep high temperatures much cooler today, staying in the upper 40s.
NAM Nest is currently hinting at more scattered light showers entering the region around mid to late morning, and continuing through early to mid afternoon.
Rain showers become more hit or miss after midnight, and temperatures will dip into the mid 30s. While rain will remain light most of the day, totals should be in the 0.15-0.20 inch range.
Hit or Miss Rain Continues Friday
Hit or miss showers are also possible during the day, but more widespread rain showers look to return late Friday night. Temperatures during the afternoon are expected to be in the low 50s. GFS hints at widespread rain returning around 9PM Friday night and continuing overnight into Saturday morning.
Temperatures Friday night will low 40s, so a rain jacket and umbrella are recommended if going out.
Active Pattern Continues Saturday
Unfortunately, the models are predicting a rainy weekend. Rain should continue from Friday night, becoming more widespread through the day.
Temperatures during the day will reach the low 50s, but the challenge in the forecast is Saturday night into Sunday. The GFS is indicating a change over to wintry precipitation Saturday night and Sunday morning, and lasting into Sunday evening.
We will closely monitor this system as we get closer to the weekend, but minor snow accumulations are possible. The good news is that there is a lot of time between now and then, so a lot can change in the forecast.
Next Week Outlook
The Climate Prediction Center has issued their 6-10 Day Temperature Outlook, which is showing quite a cool down next week.
Temperatures for next week look to have 30s for the high during the days, and teens for the lows during the nights. Winter just doesn’t want to go.
That wraps up today’s forecast. Hope you have a great Wednesday and rest of the week! Make sure to follow @wxornotBG on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for weather/forecast updates.
