Good Sunday morning, folks! I hope you are almost done shopping, because Christmas is only a couple days away. Unfortunately, we are trading a White Christmas for a Gloomy Christmas, as a fairly gloomy Christmas week is ahead.
Sunday Showers
We are waking up to widespread showers ahead of a nice disturbance in the mid levels of the atmosphere. This had provided plenty of lift across the region, and thus the rain showers.
It is definitely not warm out there, but for what feels like the 500th time this month, it isn’t cold enough to see snow or anything fun out of this either. Expect that to stay the same all day. Highs will not move much, rising into the lower 40s.
Showers look to persist through the afternoon, and quickly move on out this evening, as the primary forcing for this quickly shifts to our northeast.
You may see a couple of snowflakes flying by the end of this system, but otherwise, don’t expect too much.
Calm Christmas Eve
Well, I can’t say creatures won’t be stirring, not even mice tomorrow. However, weather wise, it doesn’t look half bad!
There may be some early morning fog after skies cleared overnight behind Sunday’s rainmaker, but otherwise, the sun looks to return for much of the day!
Enjoy it while you can this week. Highs should rise into the mid and upper 40s behind some westerly and southwesterly flow.
Christmas is Looking Cloudy
Tell me if you’ve heard this one before: we’re expecting clouds to move in again by Tuesday.
Yes, it is true. Another system will be moving eastward across the Plains on Monday, approaching us by Tuesday. This will bring with it cloud cover and more chances at some showers.
I don’t think we’ll see widespread rainfall like we’ll have today, but showers will be out there. With southerly flow, expect highs to get into the low and mid 40s, and no higher. Just a very gloomy Christmas day.
Well, y’all, I am out. Expect plentiful cloud cover and rain chances from Wednesday through next weekend, but we’ll detail that as it approaches.
Have a very, Merry Christmas, folks! Be sure to follow @wxornotBG on Twitter and Facebook for the latest info!
