Hottest Weather of the Year is Expected

Hey folks! Hope everyone is doing well on this Friday morning. I am happy that we are on the verge of the weekend, but I am not happy about the forecast, as some of the hottest weather of the year is expected.

Today Will at Least not be as hot as Saturday

Is this any consolation for how incredibly hot it looks this weekend?

I don’t think it is honestly. Currently, we’re waking up to some cloud cover across the region this morning. It isn’t too thick, and I am expecting it to thin out through the morning hours.

The clouds are just staring us in the face. Unfortunately, they aren't expected to help cool us off at all. h/t COD Weather

It should give way to partly cloudy skies this afternoon, and it is looking like another hot one, folks. Highs around 91ºF are expected, and the dewpoints in the low 70s will make it feel worse.

There is a slight chance of storms today, but I wouldn’t expect it. If you have outdoor activities, you know the drill. Stay cool and take plenty of breaks. Overnight, expect mostly clear skies, with lows in the lower 70s.

Sweltering Saturday and Sunday

A major ridge of high pressure is forecast to build into the region, and center itself directly over us here in the southern Ohio Valley through Sunday.

This will help to keep storm chances at a minimum, but the heat will pack a significant punch.

Dewpoints are expected to remain in the low to mid 70s this weekend, and this will combine with mid 90s heat (93ºF-95ºF) to yeild some of the hottest weather of the year.

We mention heat safety a lot in our post, but be sure to practice them this weekend. This is legit heat, and could be dangerous if precautions aren’t taken.

Be sure to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, layer on the sunscreen, and don’t stay out for too long in the peak heat. If you can, try to save your outdoor activities for the evening when it is cooler.

Check on your elderly neighbors, check the backseat, etc. Be smart, and be safe out there this weekend.

Storm Chances Return Early Next Week

The ridge of high pressure looks to back off to our east by Monday and Tuesday, allowing storm chances to return.

I really think this is likely by Tuesday, as disturbances look to actually move through our region, and produce storms. This will likely change, but that is the time frame that I’m looking at now for storms returning.

No severe weather looks likely at this time, but that could change as we approach the actual forecast time next week.

Well, folks, that is all I have! Have a great day, and be sure to stay cool as the hottest weather of the year is expected this weekend. Be sure to give us a follow on our real-time weather feed, @wxornotBG.
