Hot Week, Spicier Weekend

Good morning south-central Kentucky, heading outside today will still feel uncomfortable with high humidity in place and a high in the upper 80’s.  The heating trend continues to Sunday when storms could return to our region leading to a hot week, spicier weekend.

Hot Thursday and Friday

Expect hot, dry weather for the next two days with highs near 90, light winds, and plenty of sunshine.  Due to a wimpy cold front, the humidity will become lower than during previous days, so 90 will actually feel like 90 instead of 100 by the end of today and into Friday.

Temperatures and humidity will increase again this weekend which will make the afternoons feel very hot.  The actual afternoon highs Saturday and Sunday will be in the mid 90’s, but temperatures could feel like over 100.

An increased chance of storms on Sunday will also spice up this weekend’s weather.  The hot, dry weather is being caused by a high pressure system sitting right over our region, but as the high moves east, it will draw more humid air into our region.

Look for some scattered storms to pop up over our region on Sunday and Monday afternoon.  Storms that form will bring a welcome, temporary cool down from the heat.  Otherwise, temperatures will climb to the mid 90’s with miserable humidity.

These early week storms could last into the evenings and be spotty enough that some of us will get soaked and others will be left parched.

Possible Pattern Change

Better storm chances are possible on Tuesday and Wednesday as we might get a pattern change away from the dry heat of this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  Be sure to enjoy the summer heat the best you can and follow @wxornotbg for the latest updates.
