Bitterly Cold Today and Thursday Morning

As of 5:30 AM temperatures have dropped back to 20° and may continue to drop over the next couple of hours. This will lead to a cold afternoon. The latest HRRR model suggests temperatures only climb back to around 22° this afternoon!

Combine this with a light northerly wind and it will feel more like it’s in the single digits for most of the day despite mostly sunny skies! Brrr!

Wednesday night and Thursday morning temperatures are once again forecast to drop to around 16°. This will once again lead to single digit wind chills!

The wind will turn a bit more from the northeast as the high pressure system moves to the northeast of the region. This will lead to some moderation of temperatures as Thursday highs return to around freezing in partly cloudy skies.

Thursday night will bring temperatures back down to around 22° under partly cloudy skies. If we get a bit more clearing, I wouldn’t be shocked to see temperatures drop to around 20° or lower.

“Warmer” Conditions on Friday

Low pressure around the Great Lakes region will help surface winds shift out of the south. This gentle southerly breeze will allow Friday temperatures to “warm” to the mid to upper 30s under partly cloudy skies, making it our warmest day since Christmas Eve!

High pressure out of Canada will once again bring the cold back into the region by Friday night. Allowing temperatures to dip down into the low 20s.

Cold Remains in Place

The cold will be back in full force early next week! The current European Model suggests temperatures could dip into the single digits Sunday night and Monday morning! This could perhaps be the coldest temperature recorded for Bowling Green since January 8th, 2017, when the temperature dropped to 6.5°F.
