The Headline
First of all, can we talk about how amazing yesterday was!?
Our high was 81°F!!! That is 9 degrees below normal for this time of the year, and it really felt like late September for much of the day. It was quite the day, and I hope you all were able to enjoy it as much as I was!
Today will be okay temperature wise, but otherwise, today just looks like a ‘bleh’ sort of day.
We have a nice disturbance in the low and mid levels of the atmosphere moving towards us this morning. This will be the primary source of mischief this afternoon and evening.
It will be moving into an environment with plenty of moisture, and will likely fire off thunderstorms. The primary threat with these storms will be flash flooding, but damaging wind gusts can’t be ruled out.
Clouds should sock us in for most of the day as well. They’re streaming eastward out of Missouri and Arkansas, and should act to hold our temps into the lower 80s today.
One thing to note: this forecast is quite uncertain. The models have done a pretty terrible job this morning initializing convection to our west, and closer to us. As such, they can’t be trusted too much this morning.

I am confident in the storms, and flash flooding threat today, though. All of this looks to gradually move eastward overnight and into Monday morning, and even the models differ on this as well.
There will likely be a slow moving front draped across the region early afternoon tomorrow, which could lead to a few downpours across our region. These should be isolated in nature, so keep that in mind.
After this front fully moves eastward, northerly winds look to kick in and provide a nice evening, and then a very nice day on Tuesday.
The Forecast
Today: Cloudy, with numerous showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Highs around 81°F. Overnight, look for mostly cloudy skies and scattered storms, with lows around 70°F.
Tomorrow: Partly sunny, with isolated storms early in the day. Highs around 83°F. Overnight, look for partly cloudy skies, with lows around 64°F.
Tuesday: Partly cloudy skies, with highs around 82°F. Overnight, look for partly cloudy skies, with lows around 64°F.
The Decisions
Well, you should definitely wear the rain jacket to church or other activities this morning. Have an umbrella on hand as well. Though we are anticipating the greatest coverage of storms this afternoon and evening, there are showers/storms just to our west, and I anticipate they may give us some issues later this morning.
Stay away from the Fairview Plaza (obviously), and take it a bit slower on the roadways when storms and rainfall do occur. I know that may seem simple, but it is an important piece to the puzzle. If you have sporting events scheduled outside today…I feel for you. Probably won’t get those in, especially this afternoon and evening.
Tomorrow and Tuesday lose the widespread storms, and gain very nice weather in terms of temperatures. We should lose the bad humidity by Tuesday, so that is the best looking day in this forecast.
