Overall Set-Up

Good morning, y’all! I hope y’all are ready for this fire-hot forecast today! Just kidding, but it’s for real gonna be very hot today with heat indices near 100° or a little above. It’s gon’ be HOT!

This upper-level ridging that we’ve been talking about the past few days is still centered over the Plains, as it continues to build into the Ohio Valley. This ridge is going to allow our temperatures to soar with highs over the next few days in the mid 90’s. The moisture content in this air mass will also allow our humidity values to rise, making the “feels like temperature” near 100°.

What That Means For Us

It’s going to be very hot and humid over the next three days – like, the hottest it’s been all summer! As far as rain goes, most of us shouldn’t see any rain, but there is a small chance for isolated, pop-up showers. According to this weather model, there is a very, very slim chance of seeing a pop-up shower in our neck of the woods.

The biggest thing to take away from today’s forecast is that it’s going to be extremely hot and humid today through Saturday, so please take the necessary precautions in order to stay hydrated and happy.

  • Limit outdoor activity, if possible. If not possible, take breaks every hour
  • Drink plenty of water before, during, and after being outdoors to allow your body to recover.
  • Apply sunscreen
  • Dress in lightweight and light-colored clothing
  • Work outside early in the morning or late in the day (5pm or later)

Also, remember to check and double check that you haven’t left anything (or anyone) important in your car. It can get very hot inside the cab of the car in this kind of heat.
