Brace yourselves, the heat is coming…

I have a feeling a lot of people will end up saying this before the week is over with (via – giphy.com)

After a week of what seemed like never-ending rain, we have finally settled into a much quieter weather pattern which essentially means much drier conditions across South Central Kentucky. The ridge that was to our west has begun to weaken and will continue to do so allowing for more zonal flow aloft. This will in turn allow us to kick up those winds from the south and southwest at the surface, which means lots of hot, steamy air flowing in from the Gulf of Mexico.

Today we will see plenty of sunshine and those temperatures that will more than likely break that 90 degree mark with dew points in the upper 60s and low 70s. Those dew points will continue to grow as we head throughout the week, which is honestly terrible news. Paired with the dew points and sunshine, our low 90s will feel a lot more like upper 90s.

Overnight, we look to remain clear and dry with temperatures dropping to the mid to upper 60s.

Tomorrow – Mostly Sunny – High 91° / Overnight – Mostly Clear – Low 69°

Tomorrow is a very similar and boring forecast to today. High pressure will dominate the region, helping to heat things up and keep us nice and dry. Those winds will be cranking in from out of the southwest so expect humidity values to increase a bit, although still feeling oppressive and very uncomfortable. Now is the perfect time to catch up on some of that sunshine and a perfect excuse to cool off by the pool!

Overnight, we will remain clear and temperatures will hang out in the mid to upper 60s for most folks.

Wednesday – Mostly Sunny – High 90° / Overnight – Mostly Clear – Low 71°

By Wednesday, expect more of the same. Temperatures in the low 90s along with plenty of sunshine and humidity. While it may be boring, at least it’s not anymore rain! Take advantage of the sunshine, but remember to stay hydrated if you plan on spending a lot of time outdoors. Also, don’t forget about those outdoor pets! Keep them nice and cool and remember that this time of year asphalt and concrete temperatures can get extremely hot from the sun, keep those furry paws safe!
