Nice, Boring Weather To Start Week

Today – Mostly Sunny – High 86° / Tonight – Mostly Clear – Low 68°

Good Sunday morning everyone! Today looks like a great day across the region as we’re waking up to temperatures around 67° at 7 AM. The NestCam at White Squirrel Weather is showing clear skies to start our morning and I have a good feeling you should just get used to that!

An upper level ridge has settled into place over the western United States. That is resulting in weak northwest flow aloft, as well as converging upper level winds. Thus, at the surface high pressure has developed across the region. That weak northwest flow aloft will help keep temperatures a bit subdued today, while the high pressure leaves things nice and dry. Expect mostly sunny skies to continue with a high around 86°.

Mostly clear conditions should continue during the overnight hours as lows drop into the upper 60s across most of the region.

Monday – Mostly Sunny – High 90° / Mon Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 70°

The ridge across the western United States will begin to weaken on Monday. This will lead to more westerly winds aloft. As a result, the area of high pressure will move to the east of the region, placing us in southerly surface flow.

With south winds of 5 to 10 mph, as well as mostly sunny skies remaining in place due to stable conditions, expect the high temperatures to jump back up to around 90°. The good news is dew points won’t be horrendous, so it might not be as muggy as we’ve come accustomed to.

Partly cloudy skies may develop overnight as a cluster of storms moves to our north. However, no rain is expected in our region. Lows will drop to right around 70°.

Tuesday – Partly Cloudy – High 91° / Tue Night – Mostly Clear – Low 70°

Upper level ridging will completely break down on Tuesday. However, the zonal jet stream will be well to the north of the region, meaning broad high pressure will be in place across the southern United States.

We’ll still be on the west side of the center of high pressure in the southeast. Thus, we’ll still be under the influence of southerly surface flow. Southerly winds of 5 to 10 mph will once again lead to temperatures around 91° under partly cloudy skies. Still, it’s not terrible…just terribly boring.

Mostly clear skies should move in overnight. Lows will drop back to around 70° once again. Just a simple rinse and repeat forecast.

That should wrap up this forecast. Be sure to follow @wxornotBG and @WKUweather for the latest Bowling Green weather information. Also check out Landon Hampton on Facebook for the latest weather vlogs. Have a great Sunday!
