Good Saturday morning, everybody! I hope y’all are enjoying a nice cup of coffee right now, getting ready to start the day (I know I’ve had about 3 cups already!).

That pesky low pressure system with associated cold front that’s been piddling around the region is slowly but surely propagating eastward, closer to our area. As this cold front gets closer and closer to the area, we can expect multiple rounds of scattered storms throughout the day. Some of these storms could potentially be strong to severe due to increased atmospheric instability from day-time heating.

Because of this, the Storm Prediction Center has placed a slight risk (level 2 of 5) over good portions of western and central Kentucky, including our area. The main storm threats will be damaging winds, hail, and torrential rain. Also, areas that received heavy rainfall yesterday will be susceptible to flooding if more rain is received today. Due to this hazard, the National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Flood Warning for today from 6:00am – 3:30pm CDT.

The real kicker to all of this is that most places will remain relatively dry today and tomorrow. These storms look to be widespread, making it a little more difficult to pinpoint their locations. These scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected through tomorrow afternoon. Severe weather is not anticipated for tomorrow, but I cannot rule out completely the possibility of a strong storm or two on Sunday. Again, avoid the areas prone to flooding because any excess rain could flood these certain areas.
