Hey folks! I am currently on Storm Chase, and I had to make a last minute fill in, so I’m gonna make this brief. As you well know, there are currently thunderstorms and some serious flooding issues around the region. Heavy rain has been training over the same areas for a while. As such, there is a Flash Flood Warning for much of Allen and southern Barren counties until 10 am this morning.

Remember, if you encounter a flooded roadway to turn around and not drive through it. It only takes about 12″ of flowing water to move the average vehicle!!

Expect the threat of thunderstorms to continue through the afternoon hours, as this will lay an outflow boundary to the south that should creep northward towards the afternoon and be a focus for some more convection.

Therefore, expect it to feel horrible outside this afternoon. Expect highs in the lower 80s, with high dewpoints and humidity as well. It looks like it will feel just simply terrible outside today.

Additionally, be watching for severe thunderstorms this afternoon. There is some wind shear present in the atmosphere to organize convection, so damaging winds, hail and heavy rainfall are the main threats. The SPC now has us in a Slight Risk (Level 2/5) for severe weather.

Tomorrow looks to feature more of the same, but there is also the potential for severe weather across the region. A nice mid-level disturbance will be moving northeastward, and will force a surface low. This looks like it will propagate through the Nebraska and Iowa region, with a cold front slowly approaching our region.

With dewpoints looking to get into the 70s, and temps into the mid and upper 80s, there will be plenty of instability to work with for any storms that wanna go up. The severe weather threat isn’t crazy high, but there is a threat for isolated damaging winds and hail reports, along with heavy rainfall. The SPC has us in a Marginal Risk.

Sunday looks to finally be a day of relief. The cold front should come through during the afternoon hours, and probably feature storms as it passes. As such, expect scattered storms, but also cooler temps than would otherwise be there, with highs only getting up into the mid to upper 70s!
