Forecast Discussion

Hold on there folks, I’m gonna tell you about the nice weekend…but we’ve gotta go through some rain first.

The system that prompted a couple of warnings across the commonwealth yesterday is beginning to move away today. Unfortunately, areas that didn’t get in on the action (like, say, all of campus) will have a shot at some more rain today, mainly this morning.

The greatest threat for sustained rainfall will be during the morning but as the system exits, some scattered showers will be possible throughout the day. Otherwise, it’ll be a cooler, cloudy, dreary day.

An accurate summary of today’s forecast. (Giphy)

Today: Mostly cloudy with rain early in the day tapering off to scattered showers later in the day. High right around 70º. We’ll clear the skies out overnight with a low of right around 50º.

  • Wake up: 🌧  62°
  • Lunch hour: 🌧 67°
  • Bus stop: 🌧 69°
  • Evening time: 🌧 65°

Saturday looks great.

After a gloomy Friday gets our weekend started down in the dumps, Saturday will more than make up for it.

For Saturday, high pressure builds in from the west, switching our winds around to the northeast not only giving us sunshine…but great temperatures and low humidity!

NAM high temperatures for Saturday. Absolutely perfect. (Pivotal Weather)

There’s honestly nothing more to say. Get out and enjoy the great weather!

Saturday, essentially. (Giphy/BYUtv)

Tomorrow: A great day. A couple of clouds early give way to plentiful sunshine. High around 73º. Clear skies continue into the night with a low around 50º.

  • Wake up: 🌤  55°
  • Lunch hour: ☀️ 65°
  • Afternoon plans: ☀️ 72°
  • Evening time: ☀️ 63°

Sunday? More of the same…but warmer.

Surface winds and sea level pressure valid for Sunday at 4pm. (Pivotal Weather)

The high pressure dominating our weather on Saturday will continue moving on to the east and that will shift our winds to the southwest that will not only increase the temperatures but also the moisture.

It won’t feel too bad but the increase in temperature will be noticeable. Instead of mid-70s, the 80s will make a return…but it’ll be the comfortable dry 80s and not the ugly muggy 80s. And I’ll take that any day of the week.

Nice weather and the end of the semester. I know what I’m doing on Sunday.(Giphy/ABC/CTV)

Sunday: Another great day but warmer. Sunny skies with highs in the low 80s. Clear skies at night with lows around 55º.

  • Wake up: 🌤  60°
  • Lunch hour: ☀️ 75°
  • Afternoon plans: ☀️ 80°
  • Evening time: ☀️ 67°

Today’s Key Points

  • Rain dominates on Friday, steadier earlier, scattered late.
  • High pressure moves in for Saturday, making for a fantastic day.
  • High pressure begins to move east, allowing a great but warmer day on Sunday.

That just about does it for me! Thanks for checking into WxOrNotBG this morning, and be sure to follow @wxornotBG and @WKUweather on Twitter and like Landon Hampton on Facebook for the latest Bowling Green Weather information. Have a terrific Friday!
