Yesterday’s Weather

Yesterday was just a nasty, gloomy day. I also had a bad forecast, which really bums me out. It rained for a some of the day, and was just cold through it. I hate cold rain a significant amount, so that was bleh. Oh well!

Discussion

This forecast is pretty simple, and is nothing compared to what forecasters in the northeast are having to deal with. I think it would be a really fun forecast, but my goodness. The system up that way is absolutely crazy.

Whooooooa. This is the infrared satellite imagery from the (non-operational) GOES-16 satellite! h/t Real Earth Wisconsin Satellite

Just look at that satellite presentation! Simply incredible system. We are feeling some of the affects of that storm here, as it has drawn much colder air from southern Canada and into the region from the north. This is why you’re waking up to temps in the lower 30s, and why temps will remain in the 30s today.

Additionally, clouds and isolated snow showers will be around through this afternoon, making this feel more like mid December than mid March. Add in the blustery conditions and its just gonna be another bleh day.

The HRRR model has the cold and breezy conditions hanging around this afternoon. h/t pivotalweather.com

More of the same will be likely on Wednesday, but it does look to be much sunnier as drier air works into the entire atmosphere during the day tomorrow.

Expect highs to reach the upper 30s again, and for winds to slacken off. The high pressure that will be influencing our weather will begin to move eastward by Thursday, with clouds and temperatures both increasing during the day. Expect highs in the mid 40s, but with cloudy skies, it will still feel terrible outside.
