It Is Gonna Be Cold to Start The Week

Yesterday’s Weather

Yesterday was about as weird as you would expect it to be this time of year. Just think about this: to start March, we had temps in the 70s and confirmed tornadoes. Then, we proceeded to have many more days in the 70s. Then, we had storms Thursday. Saturday? Cold, with snow to our south.

Discussion

Phew, this timeframe is gonna be a weird one. But I mean, this whole “winter returning thing” has been really weird. I’m kinda sick of it. I wanted it to be 70°F right now, with that looking to continue this coming week, especially since it is Spring Break. Se la vi. What am I supposed to do about it? Nothing!

So, the basic synopsis of the pattern the next few days: hold onto your hats. Today looks really nice, actually. Based on satellite trends, we should be pretty golden until mid afternoon. Sunny skies, temps rising into the upper 40s.

After that, though, mid and high clouds look to work their way into the region with the next approaching disturbance in the atmosphere. This will keep temps warm in the overnight hours, which hurts our chances for snow tomorrow.

As this disturbance approaches, we’ll see precipitation develop. This won’t be too heavy; anticipate 0.25″-0.5″ of precipitation from this. This will all fall as rain, sadly, as temps will be in the low to mid 40s. This is actually gonna be the precip that goes on to nail the east coast with a major snow event and likely Blizzard.

I am pretty jealous, not gonna lie. Especially considering that it will be very cold on the back side of this. Tuesday’s highs will only be in the mid to upper 30s, with partly to mostly cloudy skies.

I am very bummed about this, as I will not be able to go and fish for smallmouth bass much this week. It is a sad thing, considering I have spent the past 3 weeks leading up to this week wanting to catch some. Oh well!

This is how I feel about it. h/t giphy.com

That is about all that this pattern will throw at us. Look for isolated snow showers on Tuesday, but it shouldn’t be anything too crazy.

Today’s Key Points

  • This pattern sucks
  • Cold is here to stay for a bit
  • Rainfall tomorrow; cold after
  • Watch for a BIG OLE snowstorm on the East Coast
