Wind and Storms Give Way to More Warmth

 Yesterday’s Weather

Yesterday was something, wasn’t it! It was cloudy, breezy and warm, but it also rained in the morning. By last night, the winds were howling ahead of this next cold front approaching us from the west, and they’re still howling. Today probably won’t be as warm, but at least yesterday was respectably nice out.

Discussion

The pattern has really ramped up in intensify and progressiveness over the past week as a whole. As a result, we are now seeing our third rain event in such time, with not a ton of time in between each of them. This is also the second squall line to move through since last Wednesday. This is significantly weaker, but even so.

It is a bit odd, and the pattern doesn’t really look to slow down after this. The front will move through with the precip today, cooling us down slightly this afternoon, but it won’t really be significant. Based on satellite trends/obs, we should see clearing and sunshine by this afternoon!

That would be nice, but even if we don’t, tomorrow will have enough sunshine to go around. Significant clearing looks to occur overnight, and into tomorrow, allowing for plenty of sunshine to be present. Additionally, we shouldn’t feel any real consequences from the cold front. Winds should shift into the west to southwest range, allowing for temps to actually warm a bit tomorrow.

Luckily, we won’t have to deal with the cold that usually follows cold fronts! h/t pivotalweather.com

After tomorrow, we head into Thursday, and we’ll be staring right at our next weather maker. It should start off nice and sunny, allowing temps to rise near 70 by the afternoon. However, clouds should increase quickly as another atmospheric disturbance moves our way.

The rain that looks to develop Thursday night may be heavy. h/t pivotalweather.com

This will force some rain that will move into the region overnight Thursday and into early Friday. Don’t worry, though; no severe weather is expected with this batch of rainfall.

Then eyes turn to the weekend as things look…well, interesting. We’ll have more on that later!

Today’s Key Points

  • Wind Advisory until Noon
  • Heavy rainfall this morning, tapers off by early afternoon
  • Some clearing is likely by the mid to late afternoon
  • Sunny and warm tomorrow
  • Warm on Thursday ahead of a heavy rain maker
