Forecast Discussion

Back to winter! …At least temporarily. A cold front worked it’s way through the region during the early morning hours yesterday, dragging our temperatures back to seasonal levels. Good news for the winter haters is that it won’t last too much longer: warm temperatures (at least by winter standards) are on their way back.

But we have to get through today first. Today’s going to feature much more sunshine than yesterday and that’s going to help us ease back to near that 40ºF mark once again.

Saturday’s going to continue the warming trend with winds beginning to switch around to the southwest, allowing warmer air to begin to move in to the region.

This is also when the models are suggesting a weak system will move through the region and possibly spark off a few showers in our area. This would mainly be during the overnight hours on Saturday night and early morning on Sunday. Not a huge chance nor are there large amounts expected but there is the possibility nonetheless.

These should move out for all of your Superb Owl Sunday festivities but the southwesterly winds will remain and allow our temperatures to warm even further.

Notice those temperatures near the 60ºF mark just to our southwest? Yeah, those are headed in our direction ahead of a potent storm system that promises impacts for our region early next week. Still a bit of time to hone it in but rain looks likely to start the second week of February.

Today’s Key Points

  • Clouds should clear today but temperatures remain a little cool.
  • Temperatures on the upswing with more sunshine on Saturday.
  • A couple of showers possible Saturday night.
  • More warmer weather possible on Football Festivity Sunday.
  • Warm weather stays put ahead of potent storm system to arrive early next week.
