Cooler, Cloudier and Weekend (!!) Weather Upcoming

Yesterday’s Weather

Yesterday was really nice, honestly. It was less cloudy in the afternoon that the day before it, so the mid 50s that we saw actually felt a bit better than the low 60s we had the day before. I wish that I had run outside last evening, because it just felt so nice! I mean, who wouldn’t wanna run in that weather!?

Discussion

Happy Groundhog day! It is only fitting that the “Phil” the groundhog made his selection the day after National Signing Day. Lets check in to see whether he saw his shadow, or missed it.

There you have it, folks! Phil saw his shadow! Six more weeks of winter! What an accurate prediction!

This is how I feel when people say that the Groundhog's forecasts are accurate. h/t giphy.com

What are you gonna do? Move on, I guess. Hahaha. This forecast over the next few days is both weird, and normal at the same time. Today looks fairly nice, actually. We won’t be seeing any disturbances move through our region today, so you can expect partly to mostly sunny skies for a lot of the day.

Why will it be colder, though? A weak cold front pushed through yesterday and into last night, shifting our winds to the north, which has cooled us down. Highs are only expected to be in the 40s today.

The HRRR model places us into the 40s this afternoon, but just barely.

Tomorrow and Saturday are the weird days, though. We’ll have two disturbances moving through the atmosphere, and those will provide lift across the region both days. However, neither day may see rainfall.

Yeah; I was confused too. Until I looked at the enormous amount of dry air we'll have! h/t giphy.com

Friday, the disturbance looks to move through the afternoon, and it doesn’t look all that strong. Plus, the majority of the forcing with it is located to our north, keeping precip chances low. There will be clouds present, though, so expect temps to remain cooler.

But who cares if it is cold? Tomorrow is FRIDAY. Can you tell I’m excited about that? If not, I will tell you that I am excited.

By Saturday, a more obvious disturbance looks to move through in the afternoon. This will increase clouds across the region, and will keep it cooler again. However, the key portion to Saturday is that there looks to be a monstrous region of dry air in the lower levels of the atmosphere.

This will eat up any precip that develops, keeping chances low on Saturday. Now, real precipitation chances look to come into play early next week, with a significant system that looks to affect us somehow. The details are a bit inconsistent right now, but we are watching it for you!
