Forecast Discussion

Don’t get used to that sunshine for long, we’re talking about big changes in the days to come. Our big headline for today: Rain, and lots of it.

Currently this morning, a warm front is ushering in the first band of light to moderate rain showers that are beginning to make their way eastward and into Warren County, just in time for the morning commute to work and school unfortunately. Give yourself extra time as you head out the door, it’s been a long time since people have seen anything like this coming from the sky and it is bound to cause some delays.

Overall, today will be just downright dreary, and this is only the beginning in terms of rain (hooray!). As we move into this afternoon and evening, a cold front will bring us the best chance of showers and even the possibility of a rumble of thunder or two.

These rain showers have the possibility of really dishing out a lot of rain in a short period of time. Precipitable water amounts are in upwards of 1.40 inches over Bowling Green, which is honestly what we really need. As long as the dry soil can handle it, we’ll take it!

Very gusty winds will accompany these showers/storms, so much that the National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for this afternoon (3pm) until this evening (11pm). Expect sustained winds at 20-30mph with gusts near 40 at times!

As the showers clear overnight, Tuesday is shaping up to be an awesome and unseasonably warm day with highs in the mid to upper 60s! However, Tuesday night another system will be setting up that could bring us another half to one inch of rain!!!

On Wednesday, as the rain showers pass we look to dry out once again. Cooler air will be in place under partly cloudy skies, with temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. Not too shabby I’d say!

Extended Outlook

After Wednesday, the pattern seems to quiet down for the remainder of the week where and high pressure takes over the region and ridging builds. Temperatures look to fall as we start to take a nose dive into the winter months.
